I travelled to London for this wedding on what was the hottest day of the year, at my arrival at Euston Station the temperature showed 33 degrees. To add to the fun, the air conditioning had failed on the train, so I arrived in London nice and early for Binh and Tom’s wedding dripping in sweat. Thank you Virgin trains. However what a day, I started shooting with Binh at the wonderful St Pancras Renaissance hotel, she was given a three storey room for her preparations, the haunted room apparently! With my taxi boked I went to St Andrews church in Islington for an intimate ceremony with close friends. An amazing thing happened here. I was warned by Binh that the vicar did not allow photography during the ceremony, as a photographer this can be incredibly frustrating but something we have to live with. But I spoke to the vicar trying to talk him round, he then said those words to me that I like to hear: “Are you from that wonderful city called Liverpool?” “Yes,” I replied. It then came to light that I was born just a couple of hundred yards from where he was born and in the next road to where his Grandmother currently lives. I was allowed to photograph the ceremony! The bridal party then went back to the St Pancras hotel for some wonderful delights, fantastic food, great speeches and a first dance that I just loved shooting. Binh and Tom were just adorable and it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of their day.
On seeing their photographs I received this from Binh and Tom:
“Thank you so much for the wonderful pictures. we were so happy going through all of them, reviving all the precious moment of our special day. We both love how you captured our emotions, so authentic, so natural and so incredibly unique. Thank you very much again for your hard work too, we so appreciate it. We wish you all the best with the upcoming weddings and we are sure any couples that will be photographed by you will also feel incredibly lucky just like we did.”
