Winchester, the original capital of England, is a place steeped in history with the central point being the stunning Winchester Cathedral. Completed in the 16th century it’s a magnificent building and a wonderful place to be married. I was delighted when Jill and Oliver chose me to photograph their wedding at the Cathedral, followed with the reception back at Jill’s parents magnificent house in the rolling Hampshire countryside. I didn’t photograph Jills preparation shots, because her parents wanted this time to be just for the family. Even with the challenges and restrictions thrown at me by the Cathedral and staff I loved photographing this wedding. The weather forecast was for heavy rain from 2pm onwards, Jill and Oliver were due to be married at 2pm! Yet thankfully the rain eventually came at 5pm, allowing what became a quintessential English wedding to take place in lovely weather. I hope you enjoy the photographs from the day.
Jill and Oliver wrote to me:
“We wanted to thank you for doing such an amazing job at the wedding – in the nicest possible way, we barely noticed you were there! As someone who hates photos, you made us feel incredibly relaxed and comfortable with it all and it was a real pleasure to have you there as part of the day. The photos are the most amazing memento of such a happy day! We absolutely love them all, thank you David!”
